Hey everyone, I have had a couple requests asking to see some more of my dad's '79 F150 Ranger XLT shortbed. He worked at the Ford Plant (Visteon) in Bedford, Indiana for 13 years. He then started his own company years ago called Quality Services Inc. that makes fuel filters, oil filters, starters, and other automotive parts for Ford. So he is a Ford guy to the bone (As am I).

He bought a '79 shortbed about 12 years ago or so, that was identical to the black one he has now. But after a hunting trip, he had it parked in the Ford Plant parking lot with his fourwheeler in the back and both the fourwheeler and truck were stolen.

So he searched and finally found one he liked, which is the black one he has now. He totally redid it, not restored, because it only has around 40,000 original miles on it and was mechanically sound. He re-painted it, had the motor torn down and did a mild build on it. Everything is pristeen on this truck. And i have never even drove it! (<)<

Here are a few pictures that i have on my computer right now. I will take more of the truck including the motor, interior, and underneath. If you want to see something specific let me know.

These are not good pictures at all, and the truck is DIRTY but i will get some on here once he gets it washed.

I'm not really one to cause trouble but I'm doubting the mileage for three reasons. Don't get me wrong, it is still a nice truck.

1. The headliner has been replaced with some carpet. I see no real reason why someone would do that to a 46K mile truck.

2. The rating plate on the driver side door jamb has been off and reinstalled with rivets. Those are not the factory rating plate rivets.

3. The carpet does not appear to be factory correct. I don't beleive the rubber padding looks the same as the original carpet did.

Rating plate on my restored Bronco, those are the factory rivets.

Door jamb decal, can hardly tell the Bronco is a repaint.

The tires, lift and camper shell arent original either! Haha im just kidding....but you are correct. He did resto on it a few years ago and put a different headliner and carpet in it. The whole truck was brown, but the truck he had stolen was black, so he had this truck repainted black. The tags were removed from the doors and just re-installed with rivets. The mileage is all original though. This truck is obviously not all original, headers, 4 barrel, MSD, and so on. When he redid it he wanted a truck that sat up a little higher and had a little more power. So no its not all original but, the miles are.

Then that makes more sense to me. I'm usually pretty good at spotting stuff that just ain't right on these old trucks.
