From the weather it looks like ice is local to southern WV right below me is way worse. No school, I didnt drive off the hill or go to work:D. Now its snowing ice pellets, I think the wood-stove and TV will be the agenda today.

We have a heart doctor that lives around the bend from us, so the hill is plowed most of the time.
When if I drive I just pray and go.
When I ride I have walked the bike down and did the old outrigger thing with my feet.
Today, meh Ill will drink warm tea and watch tv.

Wow you guys have it rough:D

they don't close schools here ever. only cancel buses. we have been cold enough to not get any snow lately. snow only helps with traction on the frozen roads. lows here have beenaround the -10 F lately and highs up to +10 F Clear skies and some sun are nice, but this is freekin cold for us. our snow came mostly in Nov and Dec.
not sure what is taking global warming so long:p
last few winters have been extra cold here

It takes a while adjusting to the fact they cancel school so easily.

Growing up in Montana I only remember school being canceled twice. The first was in Mount St. Hellens erupted and the second was it was -40 below and the governor declared a state of emergency and I had now school for two days.

It wasn't a vacation since my parents were out of town and my brother and I had to thaw pipes in apartments.

We've got about 6 inches on top of a thin later of ice here.... I just got back from South Shore (across the river from Portsmouth Oh) and the roads are horrible... Rt 23 has about two inches of solid packed snow covering it, and is slicker than snot on a doorknob.... only saw one car in the ditch though... Right now were getting a drizzle of freezing rain... and they are calling for a few more inches of snow tonight..... But... I'm laid off, the ol lady works at home, and the boys are outta school.... so screw it, let it snow....

I've been workin' jobs outside of the home farm for over 30 years and I can honestly say that even when I am not at work I have never missed work:) After 10 days out of the last two weeks being below zero I'll trade you guys some cold for some snow. We have about 20-24" on the ground and have gotten over 5' so far this year, but I'll gladly take more instead of all of this -20F with 15-20mph winds. I don't care where you live -45F with the windchill is cold no matter where you live.

Yeah I love the snow, but powerlines down, trees falling, and ice nope.
The problem here is the Gov. dont plan for this crap or budget for it, my road will be plowed maybe Friday.
We havent had a real snow since '77. I bet tire chain sells are around 2 sets a year in my town.
