Whats the dealy-o on those blue dots in the tail lights? Dont mind them, but how are they installed? I can see the light crumbling when you start drilling a hole in them ... Ya? No?

The real ones are drilled to install. These were big in the fifties.

I had some drill to install kind, never understood the reason for them. Was there a cool story behind them?

They used a thin chrome piece of metal that had tangs that bent over once you drilled the holes. I also saw them become popular again in the early 80's. I put a set in an older truck once and thought the lens would blow apart by the drill bit but it held up. After I got them in I didn't care for the look and replaced the taillights.

It was simply the cool factor. Hot rodders originally started AFAIK.

So any secret to drilling ranger? Pilot hole and progressively use a bigger bit? I'll try not to use my brand new lenses :p but start with some older ones ....

I think I just did a pilot hole then the 1/2" bit. At least I think it was 1/2".
