i am looking for oppions on changing the clutch preload in a dana 44 trac loc to change the brake away torque settings

Was waiting for someone to answer you blythe. Isn't it as simple as just adding one additional plate to these things? Not sure, but that's what I thought I'd heard a long time ago. Seems like it would work if there's enough room for the added thickness.

sounds like that should work although its been so long since i messed with one that i cant remember exactly how they are set up.you would have to ad an extra clutch and friction disc to keep things in order if there is room as Paul said. it would also raise heat levels and increace disc wear im sure.if you could find or even have a machine shop moke you a thicker friction disc so you could just replace one might be better though IMO. it would be really hard to tell how much you change it though except trial and error

i was hopeing to get an answer from another jeep tech, as i know it can be done just dont remember which clutches to use,as its been a few years, the unit i have is fron a 2006 dana 44, going into 78f150 dana 44,
as i know for a fact different years the clutches were different thickness
