302 with alot of blow by.............what could be the cause??? I have deleted the pcv, wont keep one in blows it out....I am going run a tube from the valve cover to intake striaght, with a hose that runs to another vent on the valve cover on driver side and connect it to another vaccum line on the intake...should that help?? I am trying to get rid of the smoke and oil smell and help vent the motor more...eventually I am going to put a new motor in it. what else can I do thats cheap??

If it keeps blowing the PCV valve out of the valve cover it is probably time for a set of rings. Do a compression leak down test on the cylinders.

Rings.... rings... rings... answer the phone, your engine is telling you it's time for a rebuild...

Bad thing about buying a engine is you never know how it's been treated, and if it's worth taking the trouble of swapping out.... Hell, If you were closer I'd give you a 302 I've got here...

Rebuilding an engine doesn't have to be expensive... if you keep it stock and don't start upgrading/hot rodding it.. something I never could not do while I was in there...
Pull your engine apart, take the block, crank, rods and pistons to a machine shop.. let them hot tank the block, mic the journels, bore, ect... have them press in new cam bearings, and order the new rings, main bushings, ect... then take it home and put it back together... add in a new cam and lifters, and gasket set, you should be able to do it for right around a grand...
Can't say what it costs to buy a rebuilt engine though... never bought one..

Yep, all depends on your skill level with the insides of a motor. I always prefer to rebuild my own over buying an out of the box rebuild.

He'll be fine Scotty... remember he's a Mechanic...
See.....
I do have my auto tech diploma and I have been working in and out of small shops for the past ten years, so I do know my way around a vehicle...

thanks Johnny....I love you tooo!!...guess this is my time to be picked on.... I havent really been into an engine....except for when I was at school.. tore apart a slant six...learned how to mic everything. but hell that was 10 years ago...I have been asleep since then...I know I can do it but I am scared to, plus I dont want to go back to stock. I dont really have anyone around here that would help me with it.I know I would rather rebuild it myself that way I know how its done and if its done right...

could a blockage in the heads cause the blow by??

Like a oil return hole blockage... not that I have ever saw... bout the only thing that would cause is oil starvation, and your valve stem seals to leak..

ok thats cool....I was thinking that.... another question, if I have bad rings wouldnt I get alot of smoke out of the exhaust pipe??? I know I am getting alot of oil in the air intake....ugh.... so frustrated with this thing....might just crush it or burn it....I have tried to blow it up for some reason it doesnt want to die...
