My Excursion has just over 200k on it. Still drives fine, but am starting to wonder about the front wheel bearings. I know they are not serviceable like the older models. They look easy to change ( other than paying for them) . Has anyone had any experience with them ? Should I go with the Ford parts or aftermarkets just the same ?

What makes you wonder about them?
As far as changing goes, I have not messed with the newer unit style bearings.

Very common for failure Jon.
Tony they make a replacement setup for those now that is the same as all the early 4x4's but it is pricey. Probably be the way I go when mine is due.

If you're just doing an R&R on the bearings, it's pretty straight forward. The only thing you really have to watch out for is if you have a vacuum hub (auto locking). There are seals behind the bearing that can be quite sensitive to tearing. A special tool is made for that job, but I have done without.
