Ok had to buy a work truck. 1994 ford ranger 4x2 2.3 gutless powerplant. I have a 83 351 windsor what would you use a 5 speed or A4od. It will be an everyday driver.

Personally... I like to shift gears.... but an automatic is nice at times.. Do you already own the transmissions your talking about, or would you have to buy them....

I would need both or eaither one I decide to use. I have a 5 speed for a 4x4 and the transfercase out of a 95 f 150 for trading.

I don't have a need for either, but I do have an AOD that's supposed to be good...

DON'T TAKE THE 4 CYLINDER OUT OF THAT TRUCK!!!!!!

Believe me, from experience, I loved my ford ranger with a 2.5 and I didn't realize it. That engine is so fun to take to 5500 rpm and still get 20 mpg. If you want big power buy a bronco with a 460 or something

You will be sorry if you screw that truck up

I think its because I am used to my .040 390 in my 78. gas it and it breaks loose. gas the ranger and nothing.

Do a little research but I think the 5 speed may require a body lift and you may need one anyways with the 351W. I've read very little on the v8 ranger swaps but was looking at a 4x4 ranger that was in the middle of a V8 mountaineer swap with an auto.
