Has anybody ever put a 7.3 powerstroke in a 73-79 F Series?

I have to agree... after using my buddies F250 with a 7.3 powerstroke to drag two EB's for eight hours... I'm sold on them.... next truck I buy will be a diesel...

Stay away from trailers and you'll be all right.

I had a 06 Cummins for a while. I liked the truck in theory, but too much money and got tired of fighting with the dealership to get stuff fixed.
So I am back to my 79's for a while. But I am going to get either a 96-97 Powerstroke or early Superduty Crew Cab at some point. And someday maybe even do a Cummins swap.

I would of brought a flatbed but the "hall road" wouldn't of been wide enough.

My parents have a 2000 F350 crewcab dually. I love driving it when I can. To tow with it is a workhorse. They use it for their 35 foot 5th wheel camper. The truck hauls it like nothing's back there. For towing, most definitely will be a turbo diesel rig.

probably a 96/97 powerstroke as they are dirt cheap now. 5.9 cummins would be better maybe but diesel exhaust fumes have got to my brain, so maybe a turdimax
diesels rule

if I Was looking into swapping something in, as said as it sounds I would do one of the 24 valve common rail cummins. Those things can just make sick amount of power with doing nothing more than a open exaust and programmer.
But I would also like to find a 2wd, 6.0 psd and trick it out. They can make some killer power for a toy as well.

6.0 likes to rev but thats all they are good for. lots of problems and expensive to fix. last one I worked on had cracked heads at only 165,000km in an F450. Emissions Emissions Emisssions ( more fuel to make less emmissions)
