Howdy all...just had a quick question for you guys. Has anyone here mounted a diamond plate tool box in the rear of your Bronco? I'm getting sick of hauling my tool box(es) back and forth to my rig, or packing them up (when I leave school), or rattling, tipping over, or just having loose tools in my Bronco. The reason I ask is my dad has a diamond plate box that he had mounted to a flatbed he sold, and he told me I can have it. I got a quick glimpse of it and I believe the dimensions are something like 3.5'x2.5'x2'. I'm not even sure it'll mount the way I would want it, but at least then I could keep the essentials on me instead of hauling everything back and forth. So if anyone has done this, let me know what size box you went with, how you decided to mount it and where, and if you have any pics that would be great. Thanks for any input.

I've seen those boxes that are like 10" wide x 18" tall x 14"deep (I think) that mount inside the bed of a pickup on the side behind the wheel well. They had shelves that slid out the back with the tailgate down. The look like a cool idea to place a lot of small tools (wrenches and ratchets/sockets) in. I always thought they'd be a nice idea in a bronco. Never seen them in one, though.

Sounds like a good idea, just do some measurements and see if it'll work like you think. Sounds like a good idea. Good luck

I've seen the boxes you described as well, but I can't seem to find one at the moment. I don't have a rear seat in my Bronco, so I was thinking about mounting the box my dad has in front of the wheel well, or flush with where the back of a rear seat is supposed to be.

Probably my biggest complaint about the Bronco with the soft top is no lackable storage area.

have been thinking about doing the wheel well style boxes, at least on one side. So if anyone has done this post up some pics.

I had a set I made in my old Red/White/Blue Bonco.... went from the middle of the wheelwell to the tailgate... they were as tall as the top of the bed, and about a foot wide.... worked great.... I don't have pictures of them though.... at least I don't think I do..

I would like to build a tool box that occupy the floor and pulls out like a drawer. It would need to be pretty heavy duty to haul the tire chains, high-lift, tow hitch, etc, though since they make some for a pickup I figure it's certainly feasible.

I'm in the process of making one right now. It sits just above the wheel wells and goes all the way across the cargo area, behind the seat. I have one big pull-out drawer, that is 48" wide. When I get it all done and finished, I'll post pics.

I've seen those plastic ones, diamond plate and flat steel ones at JC Whitney. I think Craftsman also has their own version.

I have a diamond plate chest thats on the front of our car trailer that fits perfectly in the back of my bronco....think it was made for a ford ranger or something...got it from lowes.

Yeah...I ended up just getting a diamond plate tool box 30"x18"x18" and called it done. It really comes in handier than I thought it would. Holds the fluids I need, spare parts, etc...it really cleans it up.
