Drive shaft

I'm going to do a 460 swap into my 78 truck. It has a 302 and has a manual tranny. The truck I'm pullin the 460 from has an automatic witch I'll be using. The donar truck is a 1 ton supercab. Will my drive shaft from my truck fit once I get the 460 in or is the over all lenght of the 460 with automatic tranny longer than my 302 with the manual. Or should I just get the drive shaft from the 460 shortend. A local machine shop dose it for around $100 bucks or so.

was the 302 a transplant? as for teh drive shaft, i would buy new, for the price it would be worth it, just an opinion. not sure if the 460 would fit, but i would think the auto trans is longer.

if the auto has the short tailshaft it will interchange. Measure the trans case adapter. it should be around 6". If it is around 9" then it has the long shaft and it will not work. If the driveshaft is in good condition with no vibrations I would use it. no reason to replace what is not broken.
