Next year is our 25TH,and we want to do something special. We've always wanted to go Yellowstone. So needing some advice on when to go. We both like hiking and watching wildlife. Watched a special on it last night on Animal planet and it snowed in June,my wife hates cold so thinking July or August. Is that still to soon ? We would like to fly in and a rent a jeep or something to get around in.We would like to stay in the park, can anyone recommend a nice place to stay ? We are going to stay a 7 to 10 days. Anything we must see ? Thanks
Johnny

July or August should be fine as far as the weather goes. You may want to get going on making reservations though, as that is the busiest time to be there.
I can't really make any other recommendations though, it has been a long time since I have been there.

I've been there a bunch of times, at various points of the year.
My favorite, for weather and wildlife in the easy to get to areas is late July. Its warm and all the animals tend to be down in the flats. As Red put said, make your reservations for camping and such now though. It fills up quick.
If you haven't done it already, familiarize yourself with the hiking procedures and precautions for that time of year and location.

I've been there the last week in July, last week of August and mid-May. Both end of July & end of August were both great but had some very cold nights in July. August was best for weather and we happened to be lucky that it was pretty empty due to kids returning to school. However, if you want to stay in the main lodge or cabin at Old Faithful you'll need to call now and see if there are any openings. We've been told they get booked up to a year in advance.
I think there might be other hotel options outside the park like at the West entrance or the Mammoth entrance but doing internet search will assist you on that.
You might want to check out renting an RV and do some camping...couple of camp areas have showers/laundry facilities.
Again go to their website and do some research on the park dates and their different campgrounds.
Lots of animals to see........it will be a trip you'll never forget.
