I was stationed in Germany at the time and was getting out of the Army in a month or two and my father noticed the original owner of the truck traded it in to the local dealer. This was in October of 1993 and the truck had 32,000 original miles. The owner was an older fellow who had the F150 and a Lincoln town car and he primary used the F150 for his fishing trip.

Upon receiving the truck it had a topper on the back, spare tire was mounted on the front bumper, and the factory hubcaps. I quickly eliminated the topper and spare tire carrier and then picked up some cheap chrome wheels.

The truck was my primary means of transportation from 1993 to 2001 and being a poor college student from 1994-1998 I had to find ways to save a dollar or two thus I would conduct all the repairs myself. It was nice the university had an auto-shop that student could rent stalls in.

Most of the work done was repairs and maintenance (Starter, Alternator, etc) though the engine did require a rebuild in 1998 when the cam broke. At that time I had around 79,000 mile on it.

Right now I primary use as a truck to haul stuff, or the run to the lumberyard. I know I will never part with the truck thus one of my future projects will be return it to the former glory. I plan to finish the interior prior to May and the rest sometime after I redeploy.

It currently has 105,000 original miles.

Yes this is a crappy picture, It was one I had around from 1996.

sounds like you do and should have some close attachment to the truck.

Just out of stupid curosity.... where did the cam break at.... I had a factory cam break on me once.... dropped number 4 and 8 cylinders... didn't have a choice, had to drive it on home ( about 1 1/2 hours) strangely enough years later that same block (after a few rebuilds) spun number three cam bearing bad enough that a sizeable chuck of the surrounding block broke off wth it, and was thrashing around making an awefull sound as engine was running... Always wondered if there was some connection...

It was around the #3.

I kind of messed up when it first happened and pulled the timing chain cover to find lots of slack thinking the timing chain jumped I replaced the chain/gears and redid the heads only to find no-joy when turning the key. Didn't expect the cam to have broke.
