What do you think is the worst thing to fix on one of these trucks. I'm talking about the thing that makes you swear profusely.
I'll start off....fan clutch on my Bronco with 400/AC. What a pain, my hands just don't fit in between everything.

That one can be pretty tricky.
I've had zero problems with PO hack jobs on the bronco, but on other rigs they are my least favorite to deal with. Just going through everything thats been cobbled together can make you want to pull your hair out. On my bronco though, the heater core was the most time consuming.
Heater core. I put it off for over a year. Finally my brother just pulled it all out and cut his knuckles up once or twice, haha. [And it hasn't been replaced.]

I just pulled the pan on the Bronco to put an oil pump in it and the dipstick tube to oil pan nut is just ridiculous to get a wrench on with headers.

Finding the exhaust leak on my Lightning.... I just took the exhaust completely off yesterday, and cleaned the hell out of all of it, only to fire it up this morning and hear it...>{} again...

The worst is changing the fan/heater core in a factory A/C truck/bronco.

My clutch, the butthole at the exhaust shop thought the exhaust should be as close to the transfercase as possible.

I'm gonna have to say anything dealing with wiring...I hate having to fix the PO hack jobs...I hate the hours it takes trying to trace something...yadda yadda yadda.
For the guys who hate heater cores...what was it about them? I thought it was pretty easy...just reeeeeal tight (I can definitely understand that, it was real tight for this 6'5" 320lb guy to navigate). Took me about 3 hours total, on my Bronco with AC, from laying out what I needed to clean up.

Although I have yet to do it, I'm gonna say wiring. It looks like I'm going to have to re wire the whole truck and I'm not looking forward to it .

Shoot...I had to do that to my Bronco last summer. Only word of advice I can give is...take loooooooots of pics, if for nothing else just to see where and how everything is supposed to go.

Did you buy one of those Painless kits or litterally cut and splice new wire in everywhere? The painless kit looks like a pretty heavy hit on the wallet at $729.
I found a cab from a '76 that has the wiring intact for $200. Wonder if that would be an easier option. Just switch the cabs???

I literally cut and spliced...and tried using whatever replacements I had in junked trucks. I wasn't gonna pay for one of the kits...and it was definitely a greeeeeeat learning experience for me. Another note on the kits...I hear Centech is the place to go for wiring kits for our trucks...cheaper than painless, better customer service and better instructions.

Did you have a wiring diagram that told which, where, what or did you just pull everything by each harness and start repairing?
My problem is the previous guy added soooooooooooo much stuff that I am not sure at this point what belongs and what doesn't :(.

I WOULD NOT recommend a painless kit for one of these trucks...I got a buddy that put one in his 76 and I know he had to go to a gm 1 wire alt and he has some problem with the truck not cutting off with when he turns the key off or something like that

I hate trying to get a really stuck distributor out. Some trucks/Broncos have galvanic corrosion that "rusts" the aluminum to the steel. Others seems to never have this problem. I've destroyed a couple distributor trying to pull them out.
Speaking of distributors - I just had my first distributor drive gear roll pin fail on me last Friday!

Check the oil pump. What else puts a strain on the pin but the oil pump.

Timing chain/water pump on the 88' 460.

Also clutch, but mainly because of that stupid X-member with bolts that sit right under the floorboard and other bolts that are inside the frame, but covered by that stupid X-member. I did find out a T-18 will just fit through the hole in floor, meaning I can leave that stupid X-member in place.

Im gonna go with BrownF150. It is a pain trying to get out a distributer that is seized to the block.
