New Here!

Hello from Texas. Just acquired a F-250 4X4 yesterday. I had an old garden tiller that a guy wanted and he was looking to trade for something, my tiller was only worth a couple hundred bucks. I walked around his place for a while and found this.

Anyone have a guess as to the year? The VIN and title show it to be a 1976 with a 360 CI. However, the front end is a 78 or 79 (so I thought I could visit this forum also) as you can see from the pics. The speedo also shows a max of 100mph. If my research shows correct, they went to an 85 mph max in '77. Anyhow, got lots of work to do. I imagine I need to re-wire the whole truck since it is burnt in spots, broke in spots and patched all over. Looks like a fire hazard to me.

Also, the casting number on the intake is C6AE 9425-G. When I google that, it tells me it is everything from a 390, GT-390, 428 and a 429. Based on the C6, I do know it is a '66 model intake as are the heads.

I'm going to guess that 76 is correct. It has an incab gas tank and it also has a gas cap instead of a filler door. Someone probably added the 78-79 front end. Either way any of the 73-79 f-series trucks are welcome here. Is the transfer case divorced or married to the transmission? Should be divorced if it is stock still.

Explain please.

I can tell you the transfer case is the front axle and appears to be independent.

Easy way to ask how many drive shafts does it have 2 or 3

A divorced transfercase is NOT bolted to the transmission.... and has a small/short driveshaft linking them together

A married Transfercase is bolted to the transmission, hence the term married...

Looks like a pretty good trade.... I just wish you would have needed the wiring harness two weeks ago..... I just threw a good one away...

Then it would be a "married" unit.

Heres a "divorced" style...

I as wrong, got in a hurry and somehow missed it. It DOES have three and looks like the one in the picture.

You have yourself an F250 highboy. Like this one here, except yours has a 78-79 front end.
