Hey CNelson ..... If you can send a pic that would be great... tyeast@shockware.com.... I just need the insert with all the tabs intact.... Removing the insert without breaking the tabs is tricky, but i found a good way to do it.... do you have the window crank that goes with it?

I have a perfect green LAaiat dash pad..not a single crack in it. Have the green/whiet door panels but they are not as nice ..the map pockets are shot and would have to be replaced and the 'chrome' on the detail trim is peeling a bit here and there. Also hav the green visors (not the vanty mirror option) and the matching headliner with the 'trim buttons'...
Woodgrain steering wheel with cruise control buttons..all the dash stuff..whatever ya need, let me know. Also have the Lariat tailgate in great shape with all the trim intact.

Do tell.
And considering trap4x4 is looking for Lariat panels if anyone has XLT green door panels I'm looking for those.

Hey Gilligan... where u located at? Depending on shipping costs I'd be interested in the dash. Can you send some pics of the inserts and and cruise pad? I imagine if the door panels themselves are in decent shape you wouldnt want to remove the inserts huh?
To remove the inserts i get a small flat head screw driver and just wedge that retaining circle up just enuff to get some smaller pliers directly over top and then pinch the retainer till it snaps up in the middle and breaks in half. I'll post some pics some time.... Still have to find replacement retainer somewhere though!

Any why are you holding on to them?

Cause I havent figured out a good way to get the XLT woodgrain off till now.>M<: I have seen some inserts go for close to a 100 bucks on ebay, more than some door panels.

Oh, I thought you meant the inserts were cracked.
I actually have a set of inserts sitting in the garage for the F150 which I've been trying to figure a good way to mount to the door panels. I was thinking about drilling some small holes then using a threaded rivet on the insert, and then securing the inserts to the panels with screws.

Well I have tried to take an XLT insert off before and busted all of the clips doing it. When the tit busts off it leaves a small hole in the XLT insert. Maybe a normal rivet would work to hold it to the door panel.

When I removed mine I did bust several of the tits, though I didn't leave any small holes.
I've never used any threaded rivets, so I am unsure of the feasibility though like the idea of being able to remove the inserts in 20 years when I need to replace the panel.

A normal rivet will drill out very easily in 20 years Jay.

When I was rebuilding my doors panels last week I broke off every tab. I ended up drilling a hole and inserting a brad (typically used to hold paper for my wifes scapbooking) It holds well and allows the panels to be removed if I need to

Can you post a picture or two, I would like to see that. Sounds like a good idea.

Here ya go. My camera battery died so I did not get a good shot of the brad. I can sort of see it on the top panel

I found some more batteries. Here is a photo of the brad. If I was going to do it again I would use longer brads 3/8" to 1/2" would work better
