Lisa was cutting grass today, so I thought I'd be nice and move the 68 out of her way... jump in it and it fires then dies.. I screw with it for a couple minutes, and decided I'd better check the filters to make sure it was getting fuel...... hmm, both filters are full..... so I yank the air cleaner off and cycle the throttle back and forth..... sure enough, it isn't spitting any fuel.... >{}
It's supposed to be an Edelbrock carb, which I've never have liked anyway... but I can't find the name Edelbrock on it anywhere.... oh well, looks like it's something else I'll have to fix on the little bastard.....

Are there any numbers cast into the carb? Sounds like a bad accelerator pump.

The accelerator pump was my first thought, but it's moving smoothly..... I'm figuring it's probably got some dirt, or something in one of the passages... I'll pull it off in a few days or so and go through it I guess...

I had the opposite problem...too much fuel as in flooding.
Pulled the carb apart and found a fairly large brass shard stuck in one of the seats. Had to be there from the factory as there is no way it could have gotten past the screen, or backwards through the needle.
Quality control just sucks these days.
Johnny that carb might have been sold as a Carter AFB.

I don't really know what it is, but after my boy gets his bike put back together, then I'll pull it off and figure out what it is, and what's wrong with it...

got any pictures of it ? it may be an old AFB if not a Edelbrock, I run a Ed and love them, they are very easy to work on, good luck dude, let me know if I can help out some how... Rick
OK I just went and looked up your "Spare Parts" thread, it looks like a Ed, lightly rap on the top of it a little bit to break it loose, it is probably just the rubber tip on the needle vale stuck from sitting. no big deal
if this is the right truck its a "ED" ?

The Edelbrock and Carter are a nearly identical carb. Main difference is Edelbrock puts their name plate on the front, but they are stamped Carter on the side.

Yea the Carter AFB is the Edelbrock, Vic re-made it, I like the carb myself, they just take some getting to know, they're easy to set and you can change out the metering rods easy, I have also noticed that mine likes to reset itself, so I put some silicone on my adjustment screws to keep them from vibrateing back out, good luck Johnny, you can always send it to me >I

I never did much care for a Edelbrock carb... Holleys were the ones I always ran... then again I mainly use to dragrace.... and it was only until a few years ago that I got into fourwheel drives.... Man I need to get back to racing...

I think that if you did some reading up on the Ed you would like it a little more, they are not a bad carb, just mis-understood, hollys are a great carb but they have they're down falls too, just like anything, I too have always been into speed and the 1/4 mile, but now its all about power and torque and 4 wheel drive

Would you believe that damn carb is still laying on the bench.... for some reason I just have no desire, or care if I rebuild it or not.....
